Car accidents are a leading cause of injury and death in Oklahoma

Throughout the state of Oklahoma, it is very obvious that traffic has increased in recent years. Because so many vehicles are sharing the same roadways, just going for a short drive can potentially turn into a serious crash. Tragically, car accidents continue to be a leading cause of death and injury in the United States today. To help prevent crashes, drivers must remain focused and attentive at all times behind the wheel.

A recent crash in McIntosh County claimed the lives of two people and injured several others, including children. The accident happened on US266 two miles east of Hitchita during the early evening hours. According to reports, an SUV was traveling along the highway when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted across the centerline and into oncoming traffic.

Reports said the SUV violently collided head-on with an approaching sedan. Authorities said the driver of the SUV and two children were critically injured and rushed to a local hospital. Tragically, the driver and passenger in the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Operating a motor vehicle is something that should never be taken for granted. Unfortunately, far too many drivers these days are careless behind the wheel. Those in Oklahoma who have suffered injury or loss due to the negligence of another party in car accidents may want to consider discussions with a legal representative. A successfully litigated claim could result in much-needed compensation to help victims and families with pain and suffering as well as any monetary losses that may have occurred due to a tragic accident.
