Oklahoma companies may be held liable for the negligent acts of their employees under some circumstances. Typically, employers are not held liable for acts by their employees that occur outside of the work environment. However, they could be held liable for acts that are "reasonably foreseeable" even if the harmful acts occur away from the workplace.
A high school football player in Oklahoma died on Sept. 19 as a result of a head injury he suffered earlier in the month. The Bartlesville Wesleyan Christian High School student reportedly sustained the head injury when he was tackled during a football game. Although the tackle appeared to be routine, the boy required surgery after the incident.
According to a recent news report, while drunk driving fatalities are on the decline in Oklahoma, fatal accidents caused by drivers who are impaired by drugs are on the rise.
